Encryption is what makes data unreadable by humans, so always, in your requests, in your discovery requests, make sure to specify that all hard drives, data, and files must be produced in an unencrypted format. Also, make sure in your processes that you produce data to the other side unencrypted, and when you choose an e-discovery vendor, make sure they have capabilities to deal with encrypted files.
