A Litigation Response Team is the group of individuals that work on litigation matters. Your company should have a Litigation Response Team (some companies call this the E-Discovery Team or Incident Response Team). The Litigation Response Plan should identify the team members and list contact information.
See this diagram for possible members of your team.
The trial lawyer is in the middle. He or she is responsible for presenting the case at trial and the ultimate outcome of the controversy, but there are many people involved. Today it's a team approach, a project management approach, with many other people drawn in. For example, he or she has to deal with corporate IT who has access to all of the devices, servers and data at the company.
Human Resources have information about employees and departments at the company that may be subject to the litigation. Records Management deals with the document and email retention policies and also there's the Corporate Security Officer that's also involved, but there are many others. For example, your litigation support department, your outside counsel's law firm IT department, outside Electronic Discovery vendors or consultants, and also trial experts, and others. Many are involved for successful litigation.
